The Institute for Timber Construction South Africa has produced a training DVD for the erection of Nail Plated Timber Roof Trusses following SANS 10243. The DVD’s single biggest objective is to disseminate information regarding the minimum bracing and connection requirements of a nail plated timber roof structure, therefore uplifting the erection standards with the nett result a safe and legal structure that complies with the National Building Regulations.
The training DVD, aimed at the entry level Erector on basic category D and C roofs(ITC-SA categorization), was produced using a simulated environment with real life site footage where appropriate. Constant references are made to the ITC-SA’s Erector Handbook Volume 2, to ensure that students are familiarized with the detail produced on the Roof layouts and truss detail on the documents they use on site to erect the trusses in accordance with the design requirements.
